経済同友会は１６日の臨時幹事会で、次期代表幹事に日本ＩＢＭの山口明夫社長（６１）を起用することを内定した。９月末に辞任した新浪剛史氏（サントリーホールディングス元会長）の後任として２０２６年１月に正式就任する。代表幹事が約３カ月不在という異常な事態は収束し、山口氏は信頼回復や発信力の強化などが急務となる。日本ＩＢＭ出身の代表幹事は０３―０６年度の北城恪太郎氏以来となる。
